Single-Family Home Services
For over 25 years Hanson Construction Consulting has specialized in helping single family homebuilders manage the process of building Energy code compliant homes all across the DFW metroplex.

Energy Modeling and Plan Reviews
The first service in the Energy Code compliance process includes a detailed analysis of the architectural plans and builder specifications. Our certified Plans Examiners work with Home Builders prior to construction, to ensure their homes will meet required Energy Code/ENERGY STAR standards.
Energy Modeling and Plan Reviews
- Energy Modeling results in a representation of a building’s energy consumption by using software to simulate and predict energy usage under different scenarios. This process involves a thorough analysis of several key building components, to verify compliance with the locally adopted, or above code program.
- Our energy modeling team is adept at working with home builders to make cost saving solutions while meeting compliance with any energy code program.

Energy Code Inspections and Testing
All single-family homes built in Texas are required to meet at least the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC).
Energy Code Inspections and Testing
- As the energy code progresses, standards become more stringent. We work closely with builders to ensure their homes meet the requirements of the IECC codes adopted by their local Municipality.
- Our inspectors are certified through the IECC to inspect and test homes to meet the energy code standards.
- Energy code inspections are done at least twice during the building process, once at pre-drywall stage and again at final.
ENERGY STAR Home Certification
ENERGY STAR certified homes are built to a higher set of standards than the Energy Code, resulting in more energy-efficient homes. Hanson Construction Consulting works with builders all over north Texas to ensure their homes are ENERGY STAR compliant and certified.
ENERGY STAR Home Certification
- Why build ENERGY STAR Homes? Certified homes use an average of 35% less energy than other buildings nationwide.
- To meet the strict standards of the ENERGY STAR program, certified homes must go through a more scrutinized inspection process. Homes are tested for duct tightness, ventilation rates at all bath fans, kitchen exhaust, and whole home ventilators. The HVAC system will be tested and balanced across the home to prevent uneven heating and cooling. And the Home will be tested for overall leakage to prevent air loss and infiltration.
- The value of the BLUE ENERGY STAR Label are many!

New Energy Efficient Home Tax Credits
Many single-family and multi-family builders are eligible for 45L Tax Credits of up to $2,500 for each energy certified home they build.
New Energy Efficient Home Tax Credits
- What are the eligibility requirements? The 45L Tax Credit is available for homes that meet specified energy savings requirements, constructed by an eligible contractor, for use as a residence during the taxable year for which the taxpayer is claiming the 45L credit.
- Don’t know if you’re an eligible contractor? An eligible contractor is a contractor who built the qualified home, owned and had a basis in the qualified home during construction, and sold or leased the home to a person for use as a residence.
- What requirements do the homes have to meet?
- Single family homes qualify for a $2,500.00 tax credit if they meet the ENERGY STAR Single Family New Homes Program
- Multi-Family homes qualify for a $1,000 per dwelling unit if the home meets the ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction Requirements.
